Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of demonstrating its unwillingness to end the war, following overnight drone strikes on Odesa, Poltava, and Dnipro.
In a statement dated March 28, 2026, Zelenskyy argued that any easing of pressure on Russia would be dangerous and called for coordinated international efforts to protect civilians and strengthen Ukraine’s defense.
“Last night, the Russians launched a massive strike on Odesa. There was no military purpose whatsoever – this was pure terror against ordinary civilian life. Over 60 drones were used in the strike on the city. Sadly, there is extensive damage,” said Zelenskyy.
He added that the strikes targeted residential buildings, a maternity hospital, businesses, and critical infrastructure, highlighting that the attacks were aimed at civilians rather than military targets.

The president further stressed that Ukrainian services would continue to provide on-the-ground assistance to those affected by the attacks.
“Each such strike proves that Russia has no intention of ending this war. That is why any easing of pressure on it is dangerous,” said Zelenskyy.
Additionally, Zelenskyy noted that collective defense and diplomacy are essential to protecting Ukraine’s people, infrastructure, and cities.
The Ukrainian president appreciated international partners who, in collaboration, are working to strengthen defense capacities and respond to the humanitarian needs of civilians.
“I thank all our partners who are working with us and supporting our people. We are working with everyone to give our country more strength and more capacity to protect life in Ukraine every day and every night: our cities and villages, our infrastructure.”
He further urged international communities to act as Russia continues to strike Ukrainian Civilians.
Trump Blames Ongoing War on the Two Presidents’ Standoff
Earlier, U.S President Donald Trump commented on the Russia-Ukraine war, saying he believes it can be resolved but criticized the ongoing conflict as “a terrible thing.”
Trump noted that, in his experience settling eight wars, this should have been the easiest, but the deep personal animosity between President Vladimir Putin and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has complicated efforts.

“I think we’re going to get it settled, but it’s a terrible thing. I settled eight wars, and this should’ve been the easiest one, but the hatred between President Putin and President Zelenskyy is extreme,” said Trump.
He also accused Zelenskyy of suggesting the end of the war with Russia remains “very, very far away” and demanded that he offer a public apology.
