Silvanus Osoro Onyiego is a Kenyan politician and the Member of Parliament for South Mugirango Constituency under the Kenya National Congress (KNC) party.
Early life and educational background
Silvanus Osoro began his educational journey at Chemasingi Primary School from 1995 to 2002, completing his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) with an impressive 406 marks out of 500.
Though admitted to Kapsabet Boys High School, he couldn’t join due to financial constraints.
He briefly attended Kamungei Secondary School (one term), followed by a short stint at Nyabigena Secondary School, before finally completing his O-Levels at Hill Secondary School between 2003 and 2006, where he earned a B+ mean grade.
Silvanus was admitted to Kenyatta University for a Bachelor of Education degree but chose an alternate path focused on commerce.
He completed CPA Parts I and II before enrolling at Mount Kenya University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) between 2014 and 2017.
He further advanced his legal qualifications with a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law from 2018 to 2019, and is currently pursuing an LL.M. at the University of Nairobi since 2021.

Professional career
Osoro’s early career was marked by entrepreneurial grit:
- Sold newspapers in Nairobi, earning Ksh 100/day plus commission.
- Traded second-hand clothes at Gikomba Market.
- Founded Pitch Face Marketing Limited, a sales and marketing firm that significantly contributed to his financial stability
He entered national politics during the 2017 general election, winning the South Mugirango parliamentary seat.
During the 12th Parliament (2017–2022), he served on key committees including Agriculture & Livestock, Defence & Foreign Relations, and the Committee on Implementation.

Personal Life
Silvanus Osoro comes from Kisii County and is the fifth born of six siblings.
His parents, Meshack Onyiego (a secondary school teacher) and Sarah Kemunto (a nurse at Kaplong Hospital), both passed away within a short span when he was still young, leaving him and his siblings orphaned.
Sylvanus endured significant hardship following their deaths, having to be shuffled between relatives and, at one point, was homeless on the streets of Nairobi for several months.
Eventually, a neighbor and other family members intervened to help him resume his education, most notably with a scholarship to Hill Secondary School.
He is married to Stella Osoro, a native of Meru, and the couple has three sons: Prince Meshack, Osoro Junior, and a third whose name is not publicly disclosed.
