In a statement on August 17, Sikika ROAD Safety said a Range Rover had crashed after reportedly being driven at high speed and overtaking other motorists. The account was based on an eyewitness account.
The post said the crash killed a boda boda rider and the Range Rover driver. It also reported that foreign nationals who were inside the vehicle were rushed to hospital.

“Happening now opposite chandarana supermarket riverside drive….from the eye witness its said this range rover was driven at a high speed and overtaking mercilessly hence lost control killing a boda boda rider before rolling severely……we have lost the rider and the driver instantly ….its also said Inside the vehicle were foreign nationals and have been rushed to the hospital,” the statement read.
Sikika ROAD Safety said it was following up on the incident and would provide further updates.
At the time of reporting, authorities had not yet issued an official statement confirming the circumstances of the crash, the reported fatalities, or the condition of the other occupants.

In a separate social media post, LazooJ advised motorists planning to use Riverside Drive in Nairobi to consider alternative routes, saying lives had been lost in the crash.
“If you intend to use Riverside Drive this morning, use a different route. There has been a bad accident just after Chandarana; unfortunately, lives have been lost,” he said.
Seven Dead as Matatu Carrying 50 Passengers Rolls in Makueni
At least seven people have been confirmed dead, and several others left with injuries after a public service vehicle carrying about 50 people lost control and rolled multiple times at Kalembwani in Makueni County on August 15.
Emergency responders from the Kenya Red Cross, Makueni County Disaster Management Unit, and the Kenya Police moved swiftly to the accident scene after reports of the crash.
Rescuers worked to evacuate injured passengers from the wreckage and provide immediate medical assistance before transferring victims to health facilities.

According to official reports from the Kenya Red Cross, the vehicle was carrying an estimated 50 passengers when the accident occurred. It rolled several times before coming to a stop off the road.
“A matatu carrying an estimated 50 passengers from Ivingoni Ward to Kyathi lost control, veered off the road, and rolled several times at Kalembwani, Makueni County. A multi-agency team comprising Kenya Red Cross, County Disaster Management, and Kenya Police responded, Kenya Red Cross said.
