Americans are reacting to news that former Speaker Nancy Pelosi has met with Joe Biden for the first time since her high-profile 2024 interview that helped spark calls for him to step aside from the presidential race.
The previously strained relationship between the longtime political allies appears to be thawing, with reports confirming the two recently shared a private meeting, widely described as a symbolic moment of reconciliation.
Nancy Pelosi met with former President Joe Biden for lunch. This is their first known meeting since her July 2024 interview on “Morning Joe” that questioned his plan to stay in the race.
According to an MS Now report on Tuesday, March 31st, a Biden spokesperson confirmed the meal but gave no details on when it happened or what they discussed.
Pelosi mentioned the contact during a March 30, 2026 interview in Annapolis, Maryland. She said she had spoken with Biden but added, “It would be up to him to tell people when we spoke.”

The 2024 events created tension between them. Pelosi’s comments on “Morning Joe” helped push Biden to step aside. In December 2025 she said they had not spoken since that interview.
Public Reaction Splits Over the Meeting
News of the lunch drew strong responses online from Americans. Some questioned Pelosi’s past actions. One person wrote, “Joe Biden is a far more forgiving person than me.
I’d have let backstabbing die without ever seeing her again.” Others joked about the meeting. Another post said, “I assume there was ice cream because that’s the only thing that would make this a scoop.”
Several reactions criticized Pelosi’s role in 2024. One user stated, “President Biden giving Grace to that manipulative woman who thought she had more clout to force him out.”

A different post called the pair “disconnected from reality” and said, “No one in the base care anymore what she thinks or what Biden thinks.”
Why This Matters:
The meeting ends a period of public silence between two longtime Democratic leaders. It comes as many Americans still debate what happened in the 2024 election and how the party moved from Biden to Harris.
The strong online reactions show the event touched old divisions inside the party and among voters.
Some see the lunch as a sign of personal forgiveness. Others view it as proof that top Democrats remain focused on past fights instead of current issues. The responses reflect ongoing frustration with both figures more than a year after the election.
