Speculation about President Donald Trump’s whereabouts swept across social media after unverified posts claimed he had been spotted at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
The rumors, which quickly gained traction online on Saturday, April 4, prompted an official denial from Trump’s spokesman Steven Cheung, who insisted the president had remained at the White House throughout the Easter weekend.
“On this Easter weekend, he has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office,” Cheung wrote on X. He added, “There has never been a President who has worked harder for the American people than President Trump. God Bless him.”
White House calls a lid
The White House also issued what is known as a “lid” at 11:08 a.m. on Saturday, a notification to the press pool indicating that the president would not be making any public appearances or holding events for the remainder of the day.

While lids are not unusual, the timing fueled speculation, with journalist Ed Krassenstein noting that an early lid was atypical for Trump, who often travels to Mar-a-Lago on weekends.
Krassenstein’s post suggesting Trump might be at Walter Reed had accumulated over one million views within hours.
Additional unverified claims circulated on Bluesky, where an anonymous user alleged that a major road near Walter Reed had been blocked off and that an emergency meeting was underway at the White House. Neither claim has been independently verified.
This is not the first time Trump’s name and Walter Reed have trended simultaneously online. In November 2019, during his first term, Trump made an unannounced visit to the facility that was not listed on his public schedule, sparking widespread speculation.
The White House later explained that he was completing “portions” of his annual physical exam. Then-Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham described it as a “quick exam and labs,” while Trump himself said he had also met with the family of a wounded soldier.
President Trump visited Walter Reed in April 2025 for his annual physical during his second term. Six months later, in October 2025, he returned for what the White House described as a “routine yearly check-up,” despite having already undergone his annual exam earlier that year.
The second visit prompted renewed questions about the administration’s transparency on presidential health disclosures.
Trump’s medical history has long been a subject of public debate. His former physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, revealed that a statement attributed to him during the 2016 campaign praising Trump’s health as “astonishingly excellent” had actually been dictated by Trump himself.

Observers have also noted instances of bruising on the back of Trump’s right hand and swelling in his legs in the months leading up to his October 2025 visit, though the White House has not provided detailed explanations.
Trump warns Iran
The president earlier on Saturday issued a fresh warning to Iran, stating that the country has 48 hours left to reach a deal or reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face severe U.S. military action.
In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, April 4, Trump reminded Iran of his earlier 10-day ultimatum, which is set to end on April 6, 2026.
“Remember when I gave Iran ten days to make a deal or open the Hormuz Strait. Time is running out, 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them,” he wrote.
The president first set a short deadline in late March, threatening to strike Iranian power plants, starting with the largest, if the strait remained closed.
He later extended that window by 10 days to April 6 at what he described as Tehran’s request, citing progress in talks.
