Autopsy conducted by Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor has revealed that Wells Fargo HR boss Willis Ayieko died of head injuries.
Ayieko’s family and friends gathered at the Lee Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 29 to wait for his autopsy to be conducted.
They were accompanied by Siaya Governor James Orengo and Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi.
The autopsy results come after the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced the arrest of one suspect linked to his murder.
The suspect identified as Victor Ouma Okoth was flushed out of his hideout in Nairobi’s Dandora Phase IV last night, where he had rented a house using proceeds of the heinous crime.
“One suspect linked to the gruesome murder of the late Willis Onyango Ayieko, former Human Resource Manager at Wells Fargo, has been arrested,” said the Investigative Agency.
The suspect IS being held at Muthaiga Police Station. He was placed at the scene of crime through forensic analysis, in the forensic-led investigation being conducted by a joint team of DCI’s Homicide, CRIB and Operations detectives.
“The investigation is ongoing with the team analyzing crucial leads to uncover and arrest other accomplices,” DCI said.
According to family members, Ayieko was last seen on Friday, October 18, attending a burial in Gem Constituency, Siaya County.
The family said Ayieko was supposed to attend another function in Kakamega on October 19 before he went missing.

Police Statement on Willis Ayieko’s Murder
He was found dead on Monday, October 21, with his hands handcuffed near a stream in Nyamninia in Gem Siaya County.
Speaking to the media, Siaya Sub-County Police Commander Charles Wafula said he had been informed by members of public that a body discovered near a stream in Yala.
His orange double-cabin Ford vehicle was found abandoned near a petrol station in Sabatia.
“We received a call from members of the public who alerted us to a body near a stream in Yala. Upon arrival, we found the deceased handcuffed, which immediately raised suspicions of a criminal act. Investigations are underway to establish the circumstances of his death,” said Wafula.
A CCTV footage recovered from his car showed two men parking the car. Detectives leading the case stated that the footage will be crucial in the investigations.
“CCTV footage from the petrol station shows two men parking the vehicle before fleeing the scene. We are analyzing the footage and working with our colleagues in Vihiga to identify the suspects,” Wafula added.

Quickmart Supermarket- Wells Fargo Money Heist
It is reported that Oyieko was among the Quickmart supermarket team that was probing into the Ksh94 million theft from one of its branches.
The Nation reported that it received communication for Ayieko’s close friends, colleagues, and family members that he was part of the team conducting a separate probe into the heist.
In November 2023, it was reported that a team of staffers from Wells Fargo company disappeared with Ksh94 million while on transit.
On November 8, 2023, the Supermarket distanced itself from any blame about the heist noting that the money got lost while in custody of Wells Fargo.
