Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sent a message to Mount Kenya region residents ahead of President William Ruto’s tour of the region.
Speaking in Naivasha on Saturday, Gachagua said the region’s residents should be ready to receive the president. He also encouraged Ruto to execute his mandate by serving the nation.

However, the former DP warned residents against accepting bribes during the tour.
In his speech, Gachagua humorously prescribed the “minimum amount” Mount Kenya residents should accept to cheer and attend.

“Do not accept Ksh 200 bribe to attend the tour. Listening to the president should be Ksh 3,000, for clapping after a speech is made should cost Ksh 2,000, laughing at a joke should amount to Ksh 5,000, and women ululating should cost Ksh 10,000,” he said.
The former deputy president was attending the consecration of Rev. Harrison Munyua of the Redeemed Church in Naivasha town.

Gachagua Hits at Ruto
The former deputy president also accused Ruto’s government of failing the citizens of Kenya in executing its role.
Further, he stated that the reason why he is vocal about addressing national issues is because he has lost faith in Members of parliament who have been supporting the government.
Rigathi said that the country is headed in the wrong direction because of lack of a trusted opposition.
“Mt. Kenya residents prepare to receive money, but not use the money for your personal needs, that money is cursed,” he said.
Gachagua went on to say that he fell out with President Ruto because of “too many lies that he witnessed”.

Rigathi Hits at the Military
In addition, the former DP warned General Charles Kahariri against engaging in active politics after his subtle warning on the ongoing “Ruto Must Go” calls.
“We do not have any problem with anyone. However, Chief of the Defence Forces Charles Kahariri do not associate yourself with politics. The military should remain a respected organization,” he said.
He advised General Kahariri to be careful while interfering with national matters, adding that “he should respect the independence of the military or risk a lack of trust from Kenyans”.
“Ruto must go is not a chant to physically remove the president from power rather it is a call by Kenyans to prepare themselves ahead of removing the president in 2027 election,” Rigathi stated.
Rigathi further condemned the government for deploying heavy police presence in Naivasha.
