Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has spoken for the first since he was impeached by the National Assembly on October 8, 2024.
Speaking at a Church Service in Embu County, Gachagua talked about the impeachment motion tabled against him on the floor of the Senate.

Gachagua asked his supporters not to be moved by the ongoing events in the political world.
He stated that people might plan bad things against him, but his God will protect him.

“Don’t be worried about the things that are going on in Kenya. There is God in heaven, we believe in Him, and He will do as He pleases. Human beings can plan a lot of things but there is God in heaven,” he said. The Deputy President asked Kenyans to continue praying for him and for Kenya as well.
“We were elected by many people here in Embu. I don’t know whether it will be possible for a few people to chase us away. Is it fair?” he complained.

Gachagua also praised Members of Parliament (MPs) who voted against the impeachment motion in the National Assembly.
He explained that the MPs are listening to the people and following their directions.
“We were all elected by the people, and we must listen to what the people are saying,” he said.
Gachagua added that he was elected alongside President William Ruto, emphasizing that the will of the people must be respected.

Gachagua Praises the Judiciary
However, Gachagua expressed confidence in the Judiciary in upholding the rule of law, the Constitution, and the will of the people.
“Our Judiciary is very professional, and I have no doubt that our eminent judges will protect and uphold the Constitution, the rule of law, and ensure that the will of the people remains sovereign,” he said.
Additionally, the Deputy President asked Kenyans to remain peaceful regardless of the outcome of the impeachment process.
He advised Kenyans to focus on their work, stating that this is the most important thing.

“Irrespective of the outcome, I want to appeal for peace in Mt. Kenya and across the country. We only have one country, and it belongs to all of us,” he said.
Gachagua was speaking during the 34th ACK Diocese anniversary celebrations at St Mark’s Teachers Training College.
He was accompanied by the former Laikipia Women Representative Cate Waruguru, Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, Juja MP George Koimburi, Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo, and Kirinyaga Senator James Kamau.”
