Bungoma County Governor has announced a sweeping reorganization of its executive arm, with all senior officials dismissed.
The move is aimed at restructuring governance and improving service delivery.
In a statement dated April 9, 2026, Lusaka confirmed that the changes affect the entire County Executive Committee, as well as the County Attorney and the County Secretary.
“The Office of the Governor wishes to inform the public that, in the exercise of the constitutional mandate to ensure effective governance and service delivery, the Governor has undertaken a reorganization of the County Executive,” the statement read.

All Bungoma Executive Members Sent Home
According to the statement, the decision was undertaken under the Governor’s constitutional mandate to ensure effective governance and was executed in line with Section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act.
Members of the County Executive Committee (CECs), who oversee key departments such as finance, health, agriculture, and infrastructure, are among those affected.
The County Attorney and County Secretary, both critical in legal advisory and administrative coordination roles, have also been removed, signaling a complete overhaul of the county’s executive structure.
“Accordingly, subject to section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act, all Members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney, and the County Secretary have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect,” the statement read.
Lusaka Cites Public Interest and Efficiency
In his statement, the county head said the decision was made in good faith and in the broader public interest to enhance efficiency in county operations.

“This decision has been taken in good faith and in the broader public interest, to facilitate the efficient functioning of County Government and to uphold the integrity of its institutions,” the statement noted.
He also appreciated the contributions of the outgoing officials during their tenure.
Despite the abrupt nature of the dismissals, Lusaka has assured residents that service delivery will not be disrupted.
Although details of interim arrangements were not immediately disclosed, the Governor indicated that further communication would be issued in due course regarding temporary leadership structures and subsequent appointments.
“The County Government remains committed to continuity of services, and appropriate administrative measures have been put in place to ensure that there is no disruption in the delivery of essential services to the great people of our county. Further communication regarding interim arrangements and subsequent appointments will be made in due course, in accordance with the law.” Read the statement.
