President William Ruto is expected to jet out of the Country days after he had jetted into the country from Burundi.
According to South Sudan Press Secretary, Lily Martin Manyiel Ayuela, Ruto is expected to be received by his South Sudan counterpart President Salva Kiir in on Wednesday, November 6 to update him on the Tumaini Initiative.
“President William Ruto of Kenya will be coming tomorrow, upon the invitation of President Salva Kiir.
As you are all aware, he is entrusted by President Kiir to lead and guide the dialogue, the Tumaini Initiative, which is taking place in Kenya right now.

The purpose of the visit, the working visit of President Ruto, is to inform, compare notes, touch base, and update President Salva Kiir on the peace talks.
This visit will be important too because it will put to rest impressions out there,” Ayuela said.
According to the Press Secretary, rumors that President Ruto had aborted the mission and lost interest in the Tumaini initiative were false.

“President William Ruto is on the record saying that on his watch South Sudan will not go back to war again,” Ayuela emphasized.
On his part, the Commander in Chief on Tuesday, November 5 said he met with aa section of representatives from the Opposition parties within South Sudan and they affirmed their commitment to the Tumaini agreement.
“As a follow up to my engagement with the Government delegation from South Sudan last week, I met Opposition parties’ representatives to the Tumaini Initiative.

They confirmed their readiness to sign the Tumaini Consensus, the product of sustained inclusive negotiations.
I will be meeting His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit in an engagement that leads us towards the final signature and implementation of the Tumaini Initiative,”Ruto said.
The Tumaini Initiative, introduced on May 9, 2024, in Nairobi, is a significant mediation effort designed to address the conflict in South Sudan.

Named after the Swahili word for “hope,” this initiative aims to bring together all the groups that did not sign the 2018 Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS).
The initiative is spearheaded by President Ruto, South Sudan President Salva Kiir and former Kenyan Army Comander Major General Lazarus Sumbeiywo.
