Sultana Actress’s Earlier Statement on Her Diagnosis
In August 2024, Winnie revealed that she had been discharged and was optimistic about her recovery. She said that she had started exercising again.
Additionally, she posted a video on social media explaining that she was responding well to her medication until she started experiencing some side effects.
“I had a fever, but my appetite has returned. I thank God for those little blessings,” she said.
The actress made an appeal to well-wishers for financial assistance with her medical expenses, stressing that the treatment was extremely expensive, and her family had exhausted all their available resources to cover her medical bills.

Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Speaking on Citizen TV’s Shajara na Lulu in March 2024, Winnie revealed that she occasionally experienced pain in the armpit during her menstrual periods.
However, the doctors she consulted dismissed any detection of cancerous cells. When the pain persisted, she consulted a gynecologist who confirmed the presence of cancerous cells after conducting a biopsy.
She began treatment but her condition got worse after she finished filming the ‘Sultana’ TV series.
Consequently, she sought medical attention which revealed that the cancerous cells had spread to other organs including the brain, bones, and breast.
“Prior to realizing that the cancerous cells had spread, I had certain symptoms like my brain did not coordinate very well, I had constant headaches, and vomiting a lot. The symptoms aligned with the PET scan.”
“My treatment was slightly mishandled, so the family opted to get outside help and consultations. By the time they started taking the illness seriously, the disease was too far gone, that was when we decided to get treatment outside. We were referred to Acibadem Hospital in Turkey,” said Winnie during the interview.
