The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has appointed Catherine Kawira as its new Company Secretary, effective 1 April 2026.
In an announcement on April 1, NSE stated that Catherine Kawira’s appointment follows the resignation of Millicent Ngetich on 31 March 2026.
“In accordance with the provisions of the Capital Markets Act and its Regulations, the Board of Directors of the Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC (NSE) wishes to announce the following changes with respect to the Company Secretary. Ms. Catherine Kawira has been appointed as the new Company Secretary of the NSE, effective 1st April 2026,” read the announcement.
The NSE Board expressed gratitude to Ngetich for her service.
Catherine Kawira Appointed as New Company Secretary at NSE
The new company secretary, Catherine Kawira, is a Certified Secretary and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over a decade of experience in corporate governance, legal advisory, and regulatory compliance.
She has previously served in the Judiciary, private corporate practice, and at the Capital Markets Authority, gaining extensive experience in statutory compliance, governance, and regulatory oversight.
She holds an LL.M in Corporate Governance from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and an LL.B from Kenyatta University.
Kawira is also a member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) and the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

Profile of Millicent Ngetich
Ngetich has successfully held the position of Company Secretary at six NSE-listed companies.
She has held company secretary roles at Standard Group PLC, Sasini PLC, Sameer Africa PLC, Nairobi Business Ventures PLC, Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC, and Shri Krishna Overseas PLC.
In November 2024, Standard Group PLC announced the appointment of Millicent as the Company’s Secretary following the resignation of Victoria Cherotich.

Additionally, she is an accomplished corporate lawyer with over 15 years of experience in corporate governance, legal advisory, policy development, and risk management.
The lawyer has previously worked at Unilever East Africa, where she held various roles, including Legal Counsel and Legal Affairs Manager.
Moreover, Ng’etich served at the State Law Office as a state counsel from 2008 to 2010.
Ngetich holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Moi University and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law (KSL).
She is also a Certified Secretary and an Accredited Governance Auditor.
Millicent is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS).
