Al-Shabaab terrorists have killed another National Police Reservist (NPR) officer hours after murdering six others in Garissa County bringing the death toll to seven.
The latest victim of the militants identified as, Abidkar Ibrahim, was the head of NPR in charge of the office of Mandera Governor Mohamed Aden.

Governor Aden said Ibrahim was killed by Al-Shabaab at his house on the morning of Monday, March 24.
“He has been an important person when it comes to managing security and they have targeted him as a person. Unfortunately, they killed him this morning at his house,” Aden said.

The Governor criticized the security agents for murder stating that it could have been prevented if the security agents had acted on intelligence availed to them on March 21, 2025.
He said the security agents were informed that the NPR offices would be attacked by al-Shabaab, and they had no capacity to fight them, but nothing was done.

“On Saturday, information was shared across all the fighting units within Mandera and even the security managers in Nairobi. They were told that there are a number of Al-Shabaab who have crossed into Kenya, and they have been moving around,” he said.
The killing of the senior NPR officer is the latest in a series of attacks by the militia in the county.
Aden asked security agencies to step and protect Kenyans instead of waiting to pick dead bodies after attacks.
“Our security personnel have turned into ambulances for collecting dead bodies after incidences, instead of being proactive and deterring incidents they have turned into ambulances for picking up bodies and the injured,” he added.

Al-Shabaab Terrorists Kill 6 NPR Officers
The first attack on Sunday, March 23, happened at dawn when suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked the Biyamadhow police reservist camp in Fafi sub-county, Garissa County.
The terrorists killed six people and injured four others during the attack.
Police said the terrorists were also planning more incidents of kidnapping Kenyans.
Two Suspects Terrorists Arrested
The two incidents come after Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives arrested two suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists in Mandera County on February 18.
They were identified as Isaac Abdi Mohamed, alias Kharan Abdi Hassan and Noor Yacob Ali.
DCI said the two were planning the abduction of a team of foreign nationals working at a sewer line construction site within Mandera township.

Lamu Village Incident
On March 15, about 150 al-Shabaab operatives raided Mangai village in Lamu County as locals were preparing for evening prayers.
Police said the militants lectured the residents and gave them fruits before escaping to an unknown location. before disappearing into the dark.
They did not injure anybody during the incident.
Chiefs & Other Civilians Abducted
Earlier in the year, five chiefs were abducted by the al-Shabaab.
The Chief have not been released despites a commitment by President William Ruto to reunite them with their families.
Prior to that, three other young men were taken by the terrorists. Two were returned while one is still missing.
