Police in Kitengela, Kajiado County are currently investigating a tragic incident where a man stabbed his stepdaughter to death before killing himself on Sunday, May 5 night.
According to the law enforcers, the 16-year-old girl had visited the man’s house to pick up a phone when the unfortunate incident transpired.
He reportedly attacked her with a kitchen knife and stabbed her several times before turning the knife on himself.
Neighbors said that they had distress calls from the girl who had been living with her mother after the parents separated over marital issues.
Due to the commotion that did not last long, the neighbors alerted officers stationed at the Kitengela police station.
Upon arrival, the authorities discovered two lifeless bodies in the rented house lying in a pool of blood in the bedroom.
The young girl bore severe stab wounds and visible defensive marks on her body.

“The deceased aged 16 had severe stab wounds in her back, abdomen, left breast and several head injuries suspected to have been caused by a blunt object…visible defensive marks on the left arm,” read part of the police report.

Furthermore, the perpetrator penned a letter, in which he purportedly accused his estranged wife of infidelity.

In a note addressing his wife the man wrote “Nilikuambia ya kwamba unacheza na mtu hujui unaniona tu. Sasa hiyo ni faida ulitaka kutoka kwangu. Mimi ni yule ulidharau…Mimi naenda kupumzika. Baki na kidonda cha maisha. Hiyo ndio faida yangu kwa miaka ulinipotezea.”
Loosely translated to:
“I told you not to play with me, I am the one you underestimated…I am going to rest. You’re left with this wound for life. This is my payment for all the years I wasted on you,” read the letter.
Additionally, the Police officers recovered two sharp knives, a hammer, the suicide note and a piece of paper bearing a phone number.
The bodies were moved to Shalom Hospital Mortuary.
Isinya Sub-County Police Commander Patrick Manyasi termed the loss of the two lives as unfortunate and urged couples to seek counselling when faced with marital issues.
