The course you choose through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) can determine your career trajectory, and in Kenya, certain degree, diploma, and certificate programs stand out for their high earning potential.

Although many believe that only university degrees guarantee financial success, there are equally lucrative diploma and certificate courses that provide strong job prospects.

With an increasingly dynamic job market, understanding which fields offer the best pay and stability can help students and professionals make informed career decisions.

Traditionally, degree programs like medicine, law, and engineering have been seen as the gold standard for financial success.

However, as industries evolve, new fields requiring a diploma and certificate level of education have emerged as some of the high-paying careers, attracting top talent.

Highest Paying KUCCPS Degree Courses

1. Bachelor of Aviation

This is one of the best-paying degree courses in Kenya. Aviation is one of the top-paying careers in the world, although the course can be expensive to pursue.

A few institutions offer the course, including the Kenya School of Flying and the Kenya Aeronautical College.

Other flying schools in Kenya include the Kenya School of Flying, East Africa School of Aviation, Ninety-Nines Flying School, Nairobi Flight Training Ltd, Flight Training Center, and Capital Connect Aviation

Students require good grades in mathematics, physics, and geography to qualify for the course.

A pilot with limited experience makes about Ksh132k per month, while the highest-paid professional might earn up to Ksh420k per month.

2. Bachelor of Architecture and Quantitative Survey

Kenya is a developing nation, hence, there is a huge demand for architectural solutions. Students require art, creativity and mathematical skills to pursue this course and a minimum grade of B+ and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is required.

The amount that independent architects make depends on the scale of the projects they design and the clients they work with. A starting income of Ksh50,000 is possible, however, the salary can double or triple.

Most architects in Kenya make between Ksh80,000 to Ksh283,000.

3. Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery

This degree involves rigorous learning, and graduates are in high demand, making it one of the best-paying degree courses in Kenya.

You need to have a KSCE score of at least a B+ in order to enroll in a medicine course, and the coursework for a degree in medicine and surgery typically lasts at least 5 years.

Doctors at the Karen Hospital and Mater Nairobi Hospital pocket as high as Ksh400,000 monthly.

4. Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering

Software engineers typically make between Ksh200,000 and Ksh500,000 every month, especially at large corporations like Safaricom, IBM, and Google.

In Kenya, a lot of businesses market themselves online. Mobile apps are very popular for entertainment, banking, studying, and much more, providing a huge market for web developers and software engineers.

5. Bachelor of Actuarial Science

Actuarial science is among the best-paying degree courses in Kenya, especially with an additional professional certificate from the IFOA and SOA.

Graduates can seek employment from RBA, IRA, CIC insurance, Alexander Forbes, Old Mutual, Kenya RE, Nairobi Securities Exchange and many other financial organizations.

A competent actuary in Kenya earns Ksh300,000 monthly. The average salary you can earn with an actuarial degree and professional certification in actuarial science is between Ksh180,000 and Ksh1 to 5 million monthly.

6. Degree in Special Needs Education

A graduate from this course can get employment as a daycare educator, special education schoolteacher, or academy director with a degree in special education.

It is one of the best-paying degree Courses in Kenya because it gives students the tools to instruct scholars with literacy problems and other difficulties.

7. Degree in Law

The average lawyer in Kenya makes about Ksh133,000 per month, although the most successful ones can make up to Ksh2 million.

Lawyers who represent politicians, business moguls, and criminal defense attorneys frequently earn more than Ksh5 million.

However, students must pass their KCSE with at least a B plain in order to get a place in university for the course.
