Highridge Girls’ Secondary School is a public girls-only boarding institution located in Westlands Sub-County, Nairobi County, and ranked as an Extra County (C2) school under Kenya’s education system.

History and Academics
Highridge Girls’ Secondary School was originally known as Murang’a Road Mixed Day Secondary School before being restructured and registered as a girls’ boarding secondary school in 2014 and renamed Highridge Girls’ Secondary School.
The student enrolment has steadily grown, reaching nearly 800 learners in recent years.
Highridge Girls is funded and regulated by the Ministry of Education and follows national education policies.
It previously operated under the 8-4-4 system and is currently implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework.
Under the ongoing reforms, the school functions as a senior school, hosting learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12.
The school provides approved subject combinations across several pathways, including:
- STEM Pathway
Covers science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines, designed for learners pursuing scientific and technical competencies aligned with national curriculum standards. - Social Sciences Pathway

Selection is competitive, with successful candidates typically scoring 300 marks and above in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCSE).
As an Extra County boarding school, Highridge Girls charges fees in accordance with government guidelines.
Co-Curricular Activities
Highridge Girls’ Secondary School participates in co‑curricular activities strictly within the Ministry of Education calendar, with its most activities in music, drama and county sports administration.
In June 2016, the school hosted the Nairobi County Secondary Schools Music and Dance Festival, which ran from June 14 to 17.
The event formed part of the official Kenya Music Festival pipeline, backed that year by Central Bank of Kenya sponsorship.
Highridge Girls’ role was as a final‑round host venue, providing performance halls, staging and coordination for county‑level adjudication before national selections.
The school is also part of Nairobi’s annual Kenya National Drama and Film Festival (KNDFF) circuit.
In spoken arts, Highridge Girls falls within the pool of Nairobi public schools participating in the Nairobi Schools Open Debate Tournament, organised by the African Debate Academy in collaboration with USIU‑Africa’s Spoken Arts and Debate Society.

The tournament draws over 600 secondary school students annually and runs competitive senior and junior divisions using formal parliamentary debate rules.
Under the Competency‑Based Education senior school structure, Highridge Girls officially offers the Arts and Sports pathway, which includes Physical Education, Music and Dance, Theatre and Film and Sports and Recreation.
The pathway allows co‑curricular disciplines to be timetabled, assessed and credited alongside STEM and social sciences subjects.
In sports, Highridge Girls competes under Westlands Sub‑County in activities organised by the Nairobi Region Secondary Schools Sports Association (NRSSSA).
The school offers athletics and cross-country, basketball (5‑a‑side), volleyball, netball, handball, hockey, rugby (7-a-side or 15-a-side, depending on the season), swimming, and indoor games such as table tennis, chess, and draughts.
