The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has announced a change in reporting date for all first-year students expected to join the institution for the September 2024 intake.
In a statement made on August 12, the University informed prospective students that the reporting date has been revised from September 2, 2024, to August 26, 2024.
“This is to inform you that the University has revised the reporting date for all 2024 First-Year students to August 26, 2024,” read the statement.
Additionally, the University noted that government-sponsored students are exempt from paying the household fee on the reporting day.
They are however expected to settle the fee within a month after the Higher Education Financing (HEF) confirms their funding.
Clarification on Payment of the Household Fee
“Please note that all Government-Sponsored students will not be required to pay the household fee on the reporting day; however, the household fee must be paid within one month after HEF confirms their funding band,” said JKUAT.
Self-sponsored students on the other hand are required to pay their fees upon registration.

JKUAT Issues Directive on Hostel Booking
Also, the statement notes that online booking for university hostels will open on August 20, 2024, at noon, with successful applicants expected to pay accommodation fees before moving in.
“University Hostels will be booked online via https://hostel.jkuat.ac.ke/ on 20th August 2024 at 12:00 PM.”
“Those who will be successful in booking the University hostel will be expected to pay the accommodation fee before entry,” noted the statement.
The school expressed its anticipation for the arrival of the new first-year students on the set reporting date stating, “Looking forward to welcoming you to JKUAT on the 26th of August 2024 at 8.00 a.m.”
Other Guidelines Issued to First Year Students
Likewise, JKUAT has provided further details on the guidelines for first-year students joining the institution.
One crucial requirement is for students to activate their JKUAT email accounts noting that the university will use these email addresses for all important communications.

The university points out that access to most of the university resources, such as the online library and Wi-Fi, will also require the use of JKUAT email accounts.

Students Are Advised to Have Laptops
Furthermore, JKUAT emphasizes the importance of all students having a laptop or tablet to access online learning resources.
The university said that it would make Taifa Laptops available for purchase, with pricing details to be announced later.
“Upon Payment, the laptops will be collected at JKUAT Main Campus, COHES Building 4th Floor after submitting the bank slip to the Students Finance Office.”
