The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in collaboration with Beyond Zero is offering training opportunities for a Certificate course in Community Health Nursing commencing March 2024 in the 2023/2024 academic year.
In statement on February 9, KMTC said priority will be given to qualified candidates from selected Arid and Semi-And (ASAL) counties.
Other groups to be prioritized are the underserved minorities and other Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups (VMGs) willing to serve in their communities upon graduation.
The VMGs are defined by the Ministry of Health as Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups Framework (VMGF).
KMTC Entry requirements
All applicants should have scored at least a mean grade of C or equivalent qualifications in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
In specific subjects, they are required to have scored at least C in English or Kiswahili, C in Biology and D in any one of the following Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.

Applicants should attach a handwritten essay of not more than two hundred (200) words. In the essay, applicants are required to explain why they feel that they deserve the scholarship and the contribution they will make to the community upon graduation.
In addition, all applications must reach the Chief Executive Officer, KMTC on or before 26 February 2024.
“Successful applicants will receive full scholarship for the duration of the course Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply,” the statement read.
What’s more, the training will take 2 years in the various KMTC campuses across the country.
The campuses selected to absorb the successful applicants include Kapenguria, Kabarnet, Bomet and Loitokitok. Others are Garissa, Kilifi, Kitui and Msambweni.
Application guidelines
When creating a new account, you are required to use a valid personal email address. In case you don’t have an email address, you can easily create one before you continue with the application process.
To apply, visit the KMTC admissions page admissions.kmtc.ac.ke. After opening the admissions page sign in or register.
If you have registered an account, log in using your email and password. If you are applying for the first time and don’t have an account, click on the ‘Register’ button on the top right-hand corner.
Enter your name, email address and password. Make sure you add a password that you can easily remember.
When through with filling all the details required on the account creating form, click on Create Account Button.

Fill in the online application form step by step until it is duly filled. After filling the form, click on the SUBMIT button.
Counterchecking
You will receive the duly filled in form to confirm your data. Countercheck to ensure that you have provided the required data accurately. Once you are satisfied that the information is correct, click save changes.
On the dashboard, click on the “Apply Beyond Zero Scholarship” and fill in the required information. After completing the process, review the Beyond Zero form.
Finally, you are required to Print out the duly completed form, attach relevant documents, have them signed and stamped accordingly.
