The Commission for University Education (CUE) has published a list of fully accredited institutions, including both public and private universities, that offer business-related courses in Kenya.
Business programs equip learners with skills across business management, economics, accounting, and procurement.
The courses include:
- Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)
- Business Administration and Business Management
- Economics and Economics & Statistics
- Procurement, Purchasing, and Supply Chain Management
- Accounting, Accounting & Finance, and Financial Services
- Entrepreneurship, Cooperative Management, and Enterprise Management
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is also recognized as the best public university offering both undergraduate and postgraduate Business programs.
KCA University is recognized as the best private University offering business-related courses since it started as a business college in 1989.
Other best institutions include the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Strathmore University, Egerton University, Maseno University, and Mount Kenya University, which are well equipped with modern learning facilities, including computer labs, business incubation hubs, and research centers.
These institutions also require students to undertake an industrial attachment or internship, usually in the third year, while some universities schedule attachment in the fourth year, depending on the school calendar.
Several private universities have industry linkages that enhance hands-on training, and most offer industrial attachments to their students.
Most public universities take four academic years to complete a business-related bachelor’s degree, with two semesters per year and a long holiday break.
At private universities, students can complete their programs within two and a half to three years, with shorter breaks and more flexible academic calendars.
