Admission Requirements for Medicine and Dental Courses
Admission into medicine and dental programs in Kenya is competitive and requires candidates to meet specific academic criteria:
For KCSE Holders:
- Minimum university admission requirement: C+ (plus)
- Average of B (plain) in cluster subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics, English, or Kiswahili
For Diploma Holders in Medical Sciences:
- Minimum “O” level Division II pass or C+ mean grade in KCSE
- Credit pass (C+) in cluster subjects
- Completion of a three-year diploma from a recognized medical training institution in fields such as dental technology, dental hygiene, nursing, clinical medicine, or laboratory technology.
For Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) Holders:
- Two principal passes in Biology and Chemistry
- Subsidiary pass in Mathematics or Physics
For International Baccalaureate (IB) Students:
- Minimum grade 5 or above in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics, and English or Kiswahili
Additional Requirements:
- English language proficiency for international students
- Degree holders in Biological Sciences may require a Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
Students meeting KCSE cluster requirements can directly enter MBChB or BDS programs. Diploma holders in medical sciences can advance their practical training to progress to degree-level programs
