Form Four leavers seeking admission to hospitality and tourism courses will have access to more options following a new collaboration between the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) and Kenya Utalii College.
KUCCPS, in a statement on Tuesday, January 20, said that students seeking admission to Kenya Utalii College will, for the first time under the partnership, enrol through its placement system.
The move is expected to enhance access to the institution’s hospitality and tourism programmes.
“For the first time, students seeking admission to the college will enrol through KUCCPS, an initiative that is expected to enhance access to the institution’s lucrative and globally acclaimed hospitality and tourism training.”
Plans are underway to roll out the collaboration ahead of the 2026 application cycle for placement to universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

The initiative was announced during a meeting held at Kenya Utalii College in Nairobi, attended by KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Mercy Wahome and Kenya Utalii College Principal Mark Rachuonyo Ogendi. The two described the partnership as a game-changer for access to specialised training.
Dr Wahome said the KUCCPS placement system promotes fairness and merit in access to higher education and training opportunities, while enabling institutions to attract students from across the country. “There is equity in the process, ensuring that institutions achieve the face of Kenya,” she said.
KUCCPS, Utalii College partner
The collaboration will also focus on labour market research, career pathways, and grassroots student mobilisation to take up available training opportunities.
The initiative falls under the whole-of-government approach aimed at bringing technical and vocational training closer to citizens.
Last week, KUCCPS and Kenya Utalii College joined the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Tourism at Tinderet Integrated Training and Vocational Institute in Nandi County, where Kenya Utalii College launched its programmes.
According to Ogendi, the partnership will also allow the college to engage with other institutions offering tourism and hospitality programmes to harmonise training standards.
Kenya Utalii College becomes the latest specialised institution to join the KUCCPS student placement system. Other institutions that have recently joined include the Kenya School of Law and the Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas.

Last year, the Kenya School of Law began offering its Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies) through KUCCPS, while Morendat Institute offered its certificate and diploma programmes on the platform.
Ogendi noted that working with KUCCPS will enable the college to reach students from all parts of Kenya as it expands its campus presence to regions such as Kisumu, Kilifi, and Narok counties.
Kenya Utalii College, an affiliate member of UN Tourism, has trained skilled workers for the hospitality and tourism industry for 50 years. The institution is recognised for its competency-based training, with graduates employed in hospitality establishments across the globe.
