St. Stephen Lwanya Girls National School is a premier girls’ secondary school located in Matayos, Busia County, Kenya.

St. Stephen Lwanya Girls History
The girls’ school was registered in 1976 and operated as a Day Mixed school up to 1992.
In 1993, the institution became a girls-only school, a decision supported by the sponsor, the parents, and the board of governors.
Later, in 2025, the institution was officially elevated to national school status, becoming St. Stephen’s Lwanya Girls National School.
The upgrade recognized its sustained high performance and significant impact in the Western region, solidifying its reputation as a premier center for girls’ education.
The school boasts modern infrastructure designed to support excellence in education.
It has fully equipped Physics, Chemistry, and Biology laboratories for practical experiments, as well as state-of-the-art computer labs with high-speed internet and the latest software.

KCSE Performance
In the 2025 KCSE, St. Stephen’s Lwanya Girls National School presented 290 candidates.
Of the 290 candidates, one scored a B+, while five scored a B. 17 others scored a B-, and 66 scored a C+. 122 obtained a C, and 65 achieved a C-. Only four students scored D+, while 10 scored D.
The mean score for the school was 6.04480, and 89 students, representing 30.69% of the candidates, scored C+ and above, qualifying them for university admission.
