The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched a large-scale assault on Ukraine using 215 strike drones.
The overnight drone strikes targeted key transport infrastructure in Ukraine, hitting a railway facility in the Zaporizhzhia region and port infrastructure in Odesa.
According to Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba, on April 22, the attack on Odesa caused significant damage to port infrastructure, including berths, warehouses, rail links, and facilities operated by port companies.
The attack resulted in the death of an assistant train driver, while the main driver was injured and taken to the hospital.
In Odesa, separate drone strikes triggered fires and damaged port infrastructure, including berths, warehouses, railway lines, and facilities operated by port companies. No casualties were reported in the port city.
“The port infrastructure of Odesa was also under attack by Russia. As a result of the drone strikes, fires broke out. No casualties. Damaged berths, warehouses, railway infrastructure, and port operator facilities,” he said.
Kuleba condemned the attacks, stating that they targeted civilian infrastructure and essential logistics systems, as the conflict continues to disrupt transport networks and economic activity.
