Timothy Wanyonyi Wetangula, popularly known as Tim Wanyonyi, is the current Member of Parliament for Westlands Constituency in Nairobi County, a position he has held since March 2013.
He was elected under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
Wanyonyi was born in 1963 at Mukhweya, Nalondo, Bungoma County, and he is a lawyer by profession.

He began his education at Lurende Primary School from 1973 to 1979, where he obtained his Certificate of Primary Education.
Thereafter, he attended Kibabii High School between 1980 and 1985 for his ‘O’ Level studies, before joining Nairobi School from 1986 to 1987 for his ‘A Level education.
After high school, Wanyonyi pursued higher education in India, graduating from Punjabi University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration, Political Science, and Sociology.
He later obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Delhi in 1994.
Upon returning to Kenya, Tim Wanyonyi joined the Kenya School of Law from 1995 to 1996 and earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Laws, becoming an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Career information
Tim Wanyonyi began his legal career in 1996 as a Legal Assistant at Wetang’ula & Co. Advocates, where he worked until 2000.
He then founded Tim Wanyonyi & Co. Advocates, a law firm he still runs.
Beyond legal practice, he has been the Executive Director of the Kenya Paraplegic Organisation since 2004, advocating for the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.
Wanyonyi’s political career started at the Nairobi City Council, where he served as a councillor from 2008 to 2012.
In 2013, he was elected to the National Assembly, representing Westlands Constituency, and defended his position in the 2017 general elections.
Afterwards, in 2022, Tim Wanyonyi was reelected as a member of parliament for the third term.
He has declared interest in the Bungoma gubernatorial seat in 2027.
In Parliament, he served on the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security and the Committee on Delegated Legislation.
Professionally, he is a Certified Public Secretary of Kenya and holds a practising certificate from the Law Society of Kenya.
His work has earned him recognition, including the “Best MP Nairobi Region” County Gala Award in 2021 and the “Best Performing MP” Mizani Award in the same year.

Timothy Wanyonyi is a brother to Moses Masika Wetang’ula, the current Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya, and leader of the FORD-Kenya.
He is married to Electina Naswa, with whom they have 3 children.
