Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua has clarified the government’s move to suspend the national job recruitment programme.
In a statement on February 07, 2025, Dr. Mutua stated that the drive was put on hold from November 27, 2024, and remains suspended until further notice.

“The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection wishes to inform the public that the National Job Recruitment Programme was suspended on 27th November 2024 and remains on hold until further notice,” the statement read

According to the statement, the ministry announced the suspension, but reports have been made that some individuals are still turning up at recruitment stations.

Further, the CS stated that the only ongoing exercise is the Kisumu recruitment drive.
The exercise Kisumu has been scheduled for Friday, 7th to Saturday, 8th February 2025.

Further, the recruitment process will be on the sidelines of the Nyanza Investment Conference, which will target job seekers from Nyanza Counties.
There will be no recruitment activities under the Ministry’s mandate.
Members of the public have been advised to disregard the earlier directives on the recruitment schedule, which was set to run until the 20th of February 2025.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection it will issue further details on the next steps, and they will appreciate patience and cooperation.

The government announced a nationwide recruitment programme 2024 targeting Kenyans interested in overseas employment.
Additionally, during Qatar’s first phase of recruitment 3,247 Kenyans were selected.
Nearly 1,500 successful candidates have already received their offer letters and are in the process of completing documentation for departure, according to Mutua.
