Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili Owino also known as Babu Owino on Wednesday, December 13 shared nostalgic memories with his primary school classmate Dr. Tom Mboya.
The Mp took to social media to narrate his early days growing up in slums, after meeting with his former classmate Dr. Tom Mboya who is now a successful Neurosurgeon in The United States.
“We came from very painful backgrounds living in Nyalenda slums, but God has been faithful,” Babu noted.
Babu praised Dr. Mboya as a genius whom he would not beat in primary school.
“I tried to beat you in Primary school but man, you were the best. I gave up as you were always in position one from class 3 to class 8,” he added.

On his part, Tom noted that Babu was his desk mate and they had set up future plans where he would pursue medicine while Babu Owino was to be a lawyer.
“We were desk mates in primary school, all the way from class 3 to class 8, we were inseparable. So much so that after form 4, we promised each other that I would be his doctor and he would be my lawyer,” he noted.
Further, he noted that it was a dream come true as they reconnected when they were what they aspired to be.
“Our dreams have come true. When he started by getting his first-class honors degree in actuarial science at University of Nairobi, I thought he would not keep his end of the bargain.
But he did, eventually graduating with his second degree as a lawyer in the same institution,” he noted.
Babu Owino the Genius
Nonetheless, he humorously called Babu owino a genius for all his achievements as an actuarial scientist, a lawyer and a member of parliament.
“I can attest that Babu Owino is a genius, one of the few people I know with pure brains. In fact, I happen to be the only person he has never beaten in an exam. Hehehe! Only because I was number 1 throughout primary school,” Tom added.

“We had a good laugh today going through our childhood memories as we reflected on how far we have come. God is Good,” he added.
Notably, Dr. Tom Mboya studied in Kenyatta University. As a medical doctor he started his practice in Virginia Brain and Spine Center, in Winchester.
Furthermore, he is a director of an acapella music group known as The Instruments.
In November 30, he headed back to Kenya with his family, having lived away from home for half a decade.
