Isaac Mukhebi Juma, a graduate from the University of Nairobi has asked the public to help him find a new job after disruption of his hawking business.
Speaking to The Kenya Times, Isaac confirmed that he was is looking for a job to help provide for his family.
“I have applied for jobs and attended very many interviews, close to 200 of them but I have never succeeded,” he said.
In his message, he revealed that he is a pineapple hawker in Nairobi, but the city council officers sent him packing out of the Central Business District (CBD).
“Hello friends, I am Isaac Juma (29), a father of two and a graduate of UoN (2018). A pineapple hawker in Nairobi CBD. I am looking for a job to be able to support my family. Kanjos have sent us parking,” wrote Isaac.
Isaac Education
Isaac graduated from UoN with a second-class upper division in Bachelor of Science in Range Management (BSRM) in 2018.
In the interview, Isaac said he was placed by the Joint Admission Board (JAB) now the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to pursue BSRM against his wish.
He revealed that he wanted to explore an inter-course transfer, but he could not afford the required fee for the completion of the process.
“For me to do BSRM JAB selected me, I wanted to change but I couldn’t afford the Ksh.1000 for inter-faculty transfer. I took myself for admission because my parents could not afford to travel with me from Kimilili, Bungoma to Nairobi for admission to UoN,” said Isaac.

Also, he stated that he had chosen Law but missed out because of grade and was placed to pursue BSRM which is under the faculty of agriculture.
“I was to switch and pursue a business-related course because I love doing business and I am good with Customer relations. Bachelor’s degree in commerce or economics could have suited me,” he explained.
Additionally, he holds a certificate in Information Communication Technology from the Actrace Kenya College of Professional Studies.
He is alumni of Chesamisi High School which he attended between 2009 and 2012.

Experience
Between November 2019 and December 2021, Isaac served as a sales representative at Wakulima Market Pineapple Sector.
Here, his key responsibility was marketing pineapples from Thika (Kenya), Masaka, Luweero and Kangulu Mira (Uganda) Butare (Rwanda) and Tanzania to Customers within and without Nairobi CBD.
Also, he was a Data Entry Clerk at Kiambu County Headquarters Civil Registry between August and September 2019.
Before joining Kiambu County, he was a sales agent at Izwe Loans Kenya where he was marketing logbook loans to car owners within Nairobi.
Previously, he was a volunteer at the Wings of Hope Rescue Home as an IT assistant between July 2018 and April 2019.
During his time at UoN, he went for industrial attachment at the Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre from September to November 2016.
Unemployment Rates
Isaac is one of the many graduates struggling to find a job after finishing their university education.
Kenya is facing an unemployment crisis with the most recent data showing that country’s current unemployment rate stands at 4.9 percent in the quarter between October and December 2022.
The figure shows a slight drop from the previous 5.6 percent in the corresponding quarter of 2021.
