Kenchic Poultry suppliers has announced opportunities for select Kenyan farmers in the country who have a desire to expand or venture into commercial farming.
The poultry products’ company through an advert on February 2 said that it is looking for interested poultry farmers who will be contracted through a new scheme.
According to the company, the scheme is part of its program to commercialize broiler poultry production in the country.
Kenchic further noted that successful applicants will be contracted by the company and linked with its development partners, in turn seeing them venture into commercialization.
“Through this scheme, successful farmers will be contracted by Kenchic and linked with the development partners for set up/expansion capital under the poultry commercialization,” read part of the advert.
Kenchic further listed the minimum specifications and requirements that every aspiring farmer must meet before submitting an application.
Kenchic contract requirements
Interested farmers, according to the advert, are required to have their farms located within a 100 Kilometers radius from the company’s processing plant located in the Ngoliba area in Thika.
Also, the company noted that the contracts will involve farmers with farms of a minimum size of 5 acres of arable land.
These farms should also have a good road access to the site, particularly well-maintained internal roads with ample space for trucks to maneuver.

The farms should contain a house size capacity capable of holding a minimum of 10,000 birds as per the poultry standards.
Another requirement listed is ample power supply in the farms, with a required power connection to the National Grid reinforced with a backup power system.
Additionally, the farms need to be backed up by a reliable water supply, either through a borehole or mains water supply available on the premises.
Through the scheme, the company shall provide a number of listed products, services and guidance to successful applicants.
“Kenchic will provide high-quality pre-vaccinated chicks, feed, technical backup and support from our experienced professional team with competitive contract terms and guaranteed offtake,” the advert noted.

Interested applicants are expected to submit their application through a link on Kenchic’s website.
The company noted that the application process will be conducted electronically on the listed eProcurement Portal.
Deadline for applications is on February 26th, 2024, at 1600 hours, East Africa Time.
