The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) has declared the position of Managing Director and CEO vacant.
According to KETRACO, the Managing Director and CEO will be responsible for planning, designing, operating, and maintaining the high-voltage electricity transmission grid and regional power interconnectors.
In addition, the CEO will be responsible for the implementation of the strategic goals and objectives of the Company.
“The Managing Director & CEO shall be responsible for leading in planning, designing, constructing, owning, operating, and maintaining high voltage electricity transmission grid and regional power interconnectors. The job is also responsible to the Board of Directors for strategic direction and implementation of the Company’s strategic goals, vision, mission, and strategic objectives, mobilization and management of its resources, directing and providing leadership,” part of the advertisement on April 21 read.
Additionally, the CEO will serve as a link between the board and the Company’s management during his tenure as the official spokesperson of the Company.

Qualifications
All interested candidates must have a Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution and a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field from a university recognized in Kenya.
Additionally, the applicant must be in good standing with a professional body, where applicable.
Further, the applicant must have taken a Leadership or Strategic Management course from a recognized institution.
The position also requires applicants to have proficiency in office automation applications.
For work experience, candidates interested in the position are required to have at least 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 10 years in a senior management position.
In addition to the work experience, candidates are required to have functional skills, including communication skills, entrepreneurial skills, analytical skills, and behavioral competencies.

KETRACO Application Requirements
- A signed application letter.
- A detailed Curriculum Vitae.
- Copies of academic and professional certificates.
- A copy of the National Identification Card (ID) or Passport.
According to the Company, any presentation of incorrect information during the application process will be treated as an offense, and any canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification of the candidate.
The Company noted that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted and will be required to produce originals of their National Identity Card and academic and professional certificates during the interview.
Further the successful candidates will be required to present a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, valid Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), valid Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), current Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and current Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
Appointment to the CEO position will be for a three-year term, renewable once upon satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
Remuneration packages will be offered to the successful candidate in accordance with the company guidelines and policies.
