The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced massive job opportunities for its graduates in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In a January 15, 2024, job advertisement, NYS announced 900 job opportunities with salaries ranging between Ksh68,000 to Ksh163,000.
“We notify our esteemed NYS Graduates of exciting career opportunities in the United Arab Emirates,” NYS noted.
Furthermore, the youth service revealed that successful applicants will work in the maritime and shipyard industries in UAE.
NYS noted, “Working in an established award-winning global leader in shipyard and maritime industry, our graduates will not only be seeking employment, but also get an opportunity to showcase and grow their talent.”
At the same time, NYS advertised the job opportunities which include twelve different positions.
The youth service provided details for the vacant positions including the requirements, qualifications and expected monthly salaries.
Other details provided include job objectives, key responsibilities, day to day operations, and tests for each vacant position.
NYS Clarifies jobs
However, NYS clarified that it will not be responsible for the recruitment exercise as the opportunities are employment liaison job linkages.

A liaison job posting is a type of job advertisement seeking to fill a position that acts as a bridge between two or more departments or entities within an organization.
“National Youth Service is not recruiting, this is industry linkages under the Employment and linkages office,” noted NYS.
For clarification, the liaison (NYS) shall be responsible for facilitating communication and cooperation across the different entities.
Also, the agency explained that it shall in turn provide applicants with details such as dates and venue for interviews.
“The recruiting company will be updating us on terms of service and most importantly dates and venue for interviews which we shall consequently inform you,” added NYS.
The advertisement detailed that the employer shall meet different costs for successful applicants in all the advertised positions.
This includes the Travel (Air Ticket and Visa) costs plus provided Accommodation and food.
Job details
Among the vacancies announced are the Pipe Fitter and Pipe Welder positions, each with 100 vacancies available.
Both positions have a guaranteed Ksh69, 329 basic monthly salary.
Other positions available for application include Plater Fabricator and Welder- Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
The categories, each with 100 vacant positions, will also see successful applicants earn Ksh69, 329 basic monthly salary.
40 vacant positions were also announced each for Welding and Platter Foremen positions.
For both positions, applicants earn Ksh130,700 basic monthly salaries in the middle east nation.
Other vacant positions include Piping foremen, Blaster Painters, and Mechanical Foremen with 20, 100 and 50 vacancies respectively.
Successful applicants will earn between Ksh60,982 and Ksh152,515 basic monthly salaries.
Furthermore, the youth service announced 20 vacancies for the Foreman Rudder & Propeller position, with basic pay of Ksh163,438 per month.
Other vacancies further included in the advertisement are the Mechanical Fitter and Rudder & Propeller Fitter positions.
The Mechanical Fitter category has 150 vacant positions while the Rudder & Propeller Fitter has 80 openings.

Successful applicants will earn basic monthly salaries of Ksh69,329 and Ksh114,419 respectively.
