The Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development have announced internship opportunities for interested and qualified candidates.
In an advertisement on Tuesday, August 13, PSC announced the recruitment of interns for government ministries, departments, and agencies under the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP).
PSIP is a government youth empowerment programme aimed at offering college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build skills to enhance their chances for employment, networking, and entrepreneurship.
“PSC is pleased to announce the recruitment of interns (Cohort 7) under the PSIP for the Financial Year 2024/2025,” the advert stated.
Requirements & Duties
To be eligible for an internship position, a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university, have graduated no earlier than 2018, and be proficient in computer skills.
The interns will be responsible for executing duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by their supervisors and documenting relevant skills acquired in their areas of deployment.
Additionally, the interns will actively participate in any relevant mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the programme.
Duration & Stipend
The internship lasts for twelve months (non-renewable), and interns will receive a stipend determined by the government. Upon successful completion of the programme, interns will be awarded a certificate.
“Interested and qualified graduates are requested to apply through the Commission’s job portal at www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke by September 2, 2024,” PSC stated.

Agriculture Ministry Internship
The Ministry of Agriculture has also announced internship vacancies for veterinary surgeons and veterinary paraprofessionals.
In an advertisement on August 13, the Ministry stated that the internship would begin in December 2024 and is intended for candidates who graduated in 2023/2024.
“This is a statutory requirement under the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals Act, No. 29 of 2011, Sections 15 (1) and 17 (1). The internship will be guided by the Internship Policy and Guidelines for the Public Service, the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals Regulations of 2013, and the Kenya Veterinary Board Internship Guidelines,” the Ministry stated.

Requirements
Applicants must have temporary registration as a veterinary intern for 2024 by the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) and a Certificate of Training (BVM, BSc, Diploma, or Certificate level) from universities and other training institutions recognized by the Board.
They must also possess a KCSE Certificate, KCPE Certificate, National Identity Card, Birth Certificate, KRA PIN Certificate, and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Other requirements include an NHIF Card, NSSF Card, Personal Accident Insurance cover, a bank account in the applicant’s name, and two recent passport-sized photographs.
“The application deadline is October 31, 2024,” the Ministry said.
Application Procedure
1.Register with KVB as an intern by visiting the website: www.kanyavetboard.or.ke.
2.After receiving the certificate of registration as an intern from KVB, apply to the Director of Veterinary Services by filling out personal details in an online Google form using the following link: https://goo.gl/forms/qc5dfMHSWBeoS2Rm2.
3.The date for the placement of successful applicants will be communicated through their email addresses in due course.
