Nyayo Tea Zones Mandate
Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation is a State Corporation in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Development with the mandate to conserve gazetted forests using the buffer zone model.
The Corporation grows tea and other tree species as a buffer to keep humans away from the gazetted forests.
This model has allowed the forests in the water tower catchment areas to flourish and greatly reduced illegal logging and curbed human encroachment.
