Muhoho Kenyatta is a prominent businessman regarded as one of the wealthiest tycoons in Kenya.
The billionaire is the son of Kenya’s founding president, Jomo Kenyatta, and the younger brother of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Despite his immense wealth, he has maintained a low public profile, rarely appearing in the media or engaging in politics.
He has over 30 years of experience in financial modeling and governance across the financial, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors, both locally and internationally.
Muhoho Kenyatta’s Educational Background
Muhoho Kenyatta, an alumnus of Williams College in Massachusetts, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics, graduating in 1985.
He completed his high school education at St. Mary’s School in Nairobi.
Wealth, Affluence, and Career
Muhoho has been identified as the largest individual shareholder in NCBA Group for the first time, owning 227.3 million shares worth approximately KSh20 billion ($153.8 million).
The shares now rank him among the largest publicly known personal investments on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
For decades, Muhoho has quietly overseen the Kenyatta family’s expansive business empire. He is best known as the Executive Chairman and CEO of Brookside Dairy, which he co-founded in 1993 and grew into East Africa’s largest dairy processor.
The company later attracted global investment through a partnership with French food giant Danone, which acquired a 40 percent stake.
Before the merger of Commercial Bank of Africa and NIC Bank to form NCBA Group, Muhoho served as Vice-Chairman of Commercial Bank of Africa, strengthening his role in the family’s banking interests.

The Kenyatta family’s investments stretch across banking, dairy, media, hospitality, education, and real estate, including interests in MediaMax Network, Heritage Hotels East Africa, and Peponi School.
Muhoho is a member of various corporate boards in Kenya, including Kenya Private Sector Association (KEPSA), Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), Endeavor, and The East Africa Business Council (EABC).
Through an initiative known as “The Compass Project,” Muhoho is supporting youth development in Kenya and across Africa by helping young people access opportunities to nurture leadership skills.

Politics
Over the years, he has been linked to several major political negotiations and alliance-building efforts in Kenya.
Ahead of the 2013 General Election, he reportedly played a key role in bringing together former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s The National Alliance (TNA) and then Deputy President William Ruto’s United Republican Party (URP).
He was also said to have supported the alliance’s campaign efforts.
Muhoho has further been associated with efforts that led to the political handshake between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Family
Muhoho Kenyatta keeps much of his personal life private. He is married to Erica Muhoho, and the couple has children.
He is the son of Kenya’s founding president, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, and former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
