Kenyan travel YouTuber Diana Daisy, also known as Gau, has returned home after spending the past two years traveling around the world and documenting her experiences for her growing audience.
She shared her excitement after landing in Kenya and was welcomed by family before reuniting with her best friend and fellow content creator Naomi Kuria.
Diana has built her travel content around destinations beyond the usual tourist routes, documenting local communities, cultures, food, traditions and landscapes.
Family and Early Career Life
Diana Daisy has generally kept details about her family life private. She has, however, spoken about losing her mother while she was young.
In a previous interview, she spoke about her relationship with fellow comedian Cartoon Comedian. The two also worked together before their romantic and professional relationship ended around 2021.
In 2023, she also spoke about choosing a period of celibacy as part of her personal and spiritual journey, following struggles she had previously discussed publicly.
Before establishing herself as a comedian and travel content creator, Diana Daisy worked as a cashier at Tusky’s Supermarket in Nairobi.
She has spoken about earning about KSh10,000 per month while working as a cashier, part of which she used to support her younger brother’s high-school education.
In 2019, her cashier contract expired, leaving her to choose between returning to formal employment and pursuing comedy and content creation.
Her former supervisor offered to re-hire her on a new contract, but Diana declined the offer and chose to pursue comedy and digital content despite the uncertainty surrounding the new career path.
She has since described the decision as a turning point in her journey, eventually leading to her career as a comedian, online content creator, and travel YouTuber.
Travels and Building Her Travel Identity
Diana Daisy began building her travel identity through trips across Africa and Asia, documenting her experiences as a Kenyan woman traveling internationally.
One of her early notable destinations was Malawi, where she spoke about being stranded after contracts and jobs fell through.
During this period, her content also explored the realities of solo travel, including financial challenges, loneliness, and personal growth.
She later expanded into India, visiting Mumbai, Goa, and Kolkata, while experimenting with travel formats centered on street food, markets, local communities, and first impressions.
Southeast Asia and the Pacific
From around 2024, Diana’s travels expanded across Southeast Asia and the Pacific, becoming one of the most recognizable phases of her travel career.
In Vietnam, she documented places including Hanoi and Da Nang, covering local food, nightlife, neighborhoods, and everyday life.

Her travels also took her to Laos, where she explored Luang Prabang and other destinations. She has also recounted an experience in which she was detained and had her passport and camera temporarily confiscated.
Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu
Papua New Guinea became one of Diana’s most notable destinations in 2025. She spent weeks traveling across the country, visiting places including Vanimo, Port Moresby, Mount Hagen, Zimi and Zambu.
During the trip, she interacted with local communities and immigration officials and was also photographed alongside Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape.
Her content from the country drew local attention as she documented communities, culture and everyday life for her international audience.
Diana Daisy later traveled to Vanuatu, arriving in September 2025 and spending more than two months exploring Efate, Port Vila and Tanna.
Among the places she visited was Mount Yasur, where she documented the volcano, local customs, landscapes and tourism activities.
Her Vanuatu trip also generated controversy after her conduct at some cultural sites attracted criticism. She later apologized to her followers and Ni-Vanuatu over the incident.
South Asia and Nepal
Diana Daisy has also developed a strong travel presence in South Asia, particularly through her trips to Nepal and India.
In Nepal, she explored Kathmandu and surrounding areas, documenting local communities, landscapes and daily life.
Heavy rains, floods, and landslides disrupted her 2026 trip. Diana shared updates from Nepal describing being stranded, witnessing deaths, and narrowly escaping dangerous conditions.

Her India travels, meanwhile, included Mumbai, Goa, and Kolkata, where she produced content on food, street life, and local experiences.
Pacific Island Adventures
Beyond Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu, Diana’s travels have included several less-covered Pacific destinations.
Her documented travel footprint includes Samoa, the Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu, where she has focused on local communities, cultures, landscapes, and everyday life.
These destinations have become an important part of her travel identity, particularly her focus on places that receive less attention from mainstream travel creators.
Return to Kenya
After roughly two years of near-continuous international travel, Diana Daisy returned to Kenya in September 2026 and reunited with her family and fellow content creators.
Her return follows a journey spanning Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, including Malawi, India, Vietnam, Laos, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Nepal, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu.
The journey has also expanded her content beyond conventional tourism, with her videos documenting cultural encounters, unexpected experiences, and the challenges she faces while traveling internationally.
