Kenyan actor and storyteller Abel Mutua has landed himself in trouble for bragging about kissing Actress Sarah Hassan on the high-school drama series ‘Tahidi High’.
The drama has unfolded after Mutua, popularly known as ‘Mkurugenzi’, was hosted on the Cheque Podcast, where he shared details of some of the memorable moments while shooting the show.

Mutua revealed that he had made moves on Hassan who played ‘Tanya’ on the show, but she did not reciprocate.
However, because he was given an opportunity to write the script, Mutua admitted that he added a kissing scene on the one of the last episodes of the show, hiving his much-coveted opportunity.

“Tanya was very polite, but she rejected all my advances. On our very final episode, I thought about how she had been denying my advances, and on the very second last scene on my episode on the show, I kissed her in class,” he said.

Abel Mutua Called Out for Bragging About the Kissing Scene
The incident has sparked outrage among some Kenyans online, who are calling out Mutua for taking advantage of his position in the film despite Hassan rejecting his advances.
Further, the revelation has left many Kenyans feeling uneasy sparking a debate about the role of actors and actresses in the film industry and the influence of script writers on those roles.
“That’s so lame as a script writer even though we know all of them pull a stunt like this or something close to it,” Tingabrooke said.
However, Cornelius K. Ronoh defended the actor saying that “Abel Mutua was just a young boy then.”
In response, X user Wariara said Mutua was a grown man and was still celebrating his predatory behavior.
“But he is a grown man now and still things his predatory behavior is worth celebrating,” said the user.

TikTok backlash on Mutua
Some Kenyans on TikTok also took issue with the celebrated script writer. A user pointed out that Mutua was a big producer in the country and his actions brought up a lot of questions on whether he had that done in other productions.
She also indicated that because the matter was being taken lightly, it might reflect on what other producers in the country do, just to fulfil their selfish desires.
“He does not see anything wrong with what he is saying. Sarah Hassan will watch that episode and learn that he was just a man with his own selfish desires and the only way he could fulfill them was to add the scene so that it was an obligation for her.
“This man is a director, and one of the script writers in Kenya. He gets to direct a lot of actresses, how many of them will wonder if the other kissing scenes they play are just played out the same way?” she questioned.
