Nigerian rapper, singer, and pastor Olubankole Wellington, known as Banky W, has spoken for the first time since losing his election.
The star, now turned politician, unsuccessfully vied for the Eti Osa Federal House of Representatives seat under The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded elections in Nigeria.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared his counterpart Mr. Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party (LP), as the winner with 24,075 votes against Banky, who had 18,666 votes.
During what would have been his thanksgiving service, the pastor expressed his disappointment after losing the election despite doing everything right and the rigorous preparations he put in place to ensure he won against his opponents.
In his sermon, Banky reminded the congregants that it is normal to feel disappointed when things don’t turn out as expected and proclaimed his faith in God despite everything that has happened. He further preached about having faith in God through the good and the tough times.

During the service, Banky W explained how hard he had prepared for his victory to the church. Besides the planned thanksgiving church service, Banky was looking to set up an office in Abuja and had been scouting for an office complex in the town.
The singer admitted that he would proceed with the thanksgiving ceremony and that losing an election would not deter him from thanking God for the goodness in his life.
He shared a snippet of the video on his Instagram encouraging people who have suffered a loss of any kind to watch it and be encouraged.
“For anyone who’s ever suffered through a loss, a disappointment or a situation where things just didn’t work out the way you hoped… “Faith after a Fall” is for you. For me. For all of us. Please watch this and share if you feel compelled.”
