Mali Safi Chito hit song by Milycent Kipkorir, popularly known as Marakwet Daughter won the Best ceremonial song of the Year in Kalenjin Music Awards, held at Kapteket Stadium on 30th December 2023.
The hit song that has come to be a favorite of many, means “pure gold person” in Kalenjin.

Further, the song became viral on TikTok and YouTube, surprising the Eldoret based singer.
Currently, the song boasts of 4.8 million views on YouTube.

After the major win, Marakwet Daughter went to her Facebook page to thank her fans for the support and love.
In a heartfelt post, she thanked God for this milestone in her life.

“God has been faithful that, this year a lot happened to build me for the future He has for me. Thank you so much for your love, I love you now and forever. Thank you to all friends that came and also sent in a congratulation’s messages,” she posted.
Further, she posted a photo of herself all smiles flanked by Bomet County women representative Linet Toto.
Her fans commented under the post, congratulating her for the well-deserved win.
“Congratulations, you deserve it,” Facebook user Mark Too commented.
Other Artists Who Bagged Awards
Likewise, at the highly celebrated awards, musician Kilel Jazz won the award for the best overall artist.
Additionally, other artistes who bagged awards include Bruni Star who won Best Male Upcoming artiste and Faith Therui who won the Best Female Artist honor.
Other categories that were recognized include best radio presenter, best comedian, best content creator, best radio caller and legend award.
The awards which were held at the famous Stadium in Bureti Constituency, Kericho County, were graced by many politicians and leaders from the region.
Regional Leaders Graced the Event
Among these leaders was Julius Kones, a politician and consulting statistician.
“Several talented musicians showcased their talents in front of thousands of enthusiastic and exited music lovers and several leaders from across the Rift valley,” Julius Kones posted on his official X account.

Likewise, the Member of Parliament for Konoin Constituency, Brighton Yegon also attended, noting that the awards ceremony was a good initiative that appreciated local creative talent.
“What a well thought out and plausible initiative by Hon. Ngong Ngeno (MP Emurua Dikir) for rewarding Arts talent,” Brighton Yegon noted on his official X account commending the winners.
Photos shared on social media further showed the sheer size of the crowds who had gathered to attend the music awards and celebrate local talent.
