Bungoma Woman Representative Aspirant Agnetta Mwangale has been found injured after reportedly going missing.
Mwangale was located on August 17, according to an update shared by Vihiga Woman Rep aspirant Amakove Wala.
“My fellow woman rep aspirant for Bungoma, Agnetta Mwangale, has finally been located this morning, injured, traumatized. There is a team headed to take her to safety and medical care,” the update stated.
According to reports by Amakove Wala, who is vying for the Vihiga Woman Representative seat, the Bungoma women rep aspirant went missing during the August 16 Linda Mwananchi rally.
Mwangale and another participant, Abigael Githonyo, reportedly lost contact with their teams around 6.00 p.m. after chaos erupted at the political event.
After their disappearance, their phones were reportedly switched off throughout the night, raising concern among family members, supporters, and fellow political leaders.
Amakove Wala on Homa Bay Rally Attacks
Vihiga Woman Representative aspirant Amakove Wala has condemned the violence that, according to her, was a coordinated attack during and after the Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay.
In a series of updates, Wala alleged that vehicles belonging to members of the convoy were vandalized, stoned, hit with tear gas, punctured, and, in some cases, set ablaze.
She claimed that some vehicles were shot at with live bullets. Further, she alleged that police officers participated in the attacks, including one officer she said was involved in stoning their vehicle.
Further, several supporters sustained injuries during the violence, including members of a female cheer team who were admitted to the hospital for treatment, and personal belongings, including documents, clothes, and bags, were stolen during the chaos.
According to Wala, the attacks did not end at the rally grounds. She alleged that some injured supporters were later targeted again while receiving treatment at Homa Bay Hospital.
The Vihiga aspirant has called for accountability over the unrest and demanded answers regarding the security failures witnessed during the event.
