An autopsy report has revealed how General Service Unit (GSU) officer Constable Ramadhan Mattanka died after being attacked by a man armed with a bow and arrows outside the State House.
VOCAL Africa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hussein Khalid, in a statement on Tuesday, October 14, said the postmortem examination conducted on Constable Ramadhan’s body revealed that he was shot with an arrow that pierced through his 7th and 8th left ribs.
According to the report, the arrow then passed through his left lung before puncturing his heart. The officer succumbed to his injuries due to excessive internal bleeding.
“He died due to excessive bleeding resulting from the injury. Ramadhan will be buried today in Kajiado County. As we call for justice for Ramadhan, we urge the state to ensure police are safe while on duty,” said Hussein Khalid.
NPS confirms State House Officer was killed by a man armed with a bow and arrows
The National Police Service (NPS) Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga had in a statement on Monday night, confirmed the death of the GSU Officer after he was attacked during morning hours while guarding the State House.

While revealing the identity of the officer who lost his life in the unprecedented attack, the NPS Director of Corporate Communication said that Constable Ramadhan Mattanka was rushed to the hospital but died while undergoing treatment.
“A 56-year-old man, armed with a bow and arrows, rapidly approached police officers stationed in the area. Despite being challenged to surrender, the suspect advanced on Police Constable Ramadhan Mattanka and shot him in the left ribs with an arrow,” said Muchiri.
“The injured officer was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. His body has been transferred to the hospital’s mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.”
Investigations launched
The NPS Spokesperson added that the attacker was swiftly subdued and arrested by other GSU officers on duty. At the same time, NPS launched an investigation to establish the motive behind the attack.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Constable Ramadhan Mattanka, who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. The officer’s next of kin have been notified, and the Service stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time,” the statement adds.
The incident happened within hours of another case involving a GSU officer near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). In that case, preliminary findings suggest the officer, who had been assigned to guard the airport’s perimeter, was strangled and drowned during a confrontation with a man. The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident, which occurred on Sunday, October 12.
