“This partnership is a significant step in how we are evolving Bolt Food, from a food delivery service to a platform that supports everyday needs. By collaborating with trusted brands such as Quickmart, we’re making it easier for customers to shop conveniently, and for our partners to reach more households through digital channels. We’re also creating additional earning opportunities for our courier community,” stated Ali Zaryab.
He added that the company aims to strengthen its position as a reliable delivery platform while supporting businesses to grow through digital access.
By entering the high-frequency retail category, Bolt Food is expanding everyday use cases for its platform, increasing the frequency with which customers rely on the service for their daily needs.
Quickmart Expands Digital Reach as Demand for Convenient Shopping Grows
For Quickmart, the partnership provides an opportunity to expand its reach through digital channels and respond to growing demand for convenience-based shopping.

“As Quickmart celebrates 20 years of serving Kenyan households, this partnership with Bolt Food is a powerful step in delivering on our promise of convenience. By enabling customers to access Quickmart’s wide range of quality goods and services through on-demand delivery, we are making everyday shopping easier, faster, and more accessible.
We are predominantly starting with big cities, that is Nairobi and Mombasa.”
According to Wamaitha, Quickmart operates close to 70 stores nationwide, providing a strong network to support the rollout.
The partnership comes as Kenya’s digital economy continues to grow. According to the Bolt-Ipsos Gig Economy Report, the sector supports about 1.5 million workers and contributes over KSh 100 billion annually.
The report also shows that 53% of gig workers rely on platform-based work as their primary source of income, while 98% say their standard of living has improved.
Bolt Food says the new service will also create more income opportunities for delivery riders while helping businesses reach more customers.
The launch marks the start of Bolt Food’s expansion into retail, with plans to onboard additional partners and invest further in technology and operations to support the growth of digital commerce in Kenya.
