The two-year legal battle over the control of an estimated Ksh16 billion estate left by the late Jackson Kibor has now taken a different twist.
Kibor was a Uasin Gishu farmer and politician. The battle over his wealth could end after the family proposed mediation as an out-of-court settlement of the case.
The 29 listed beneficiaries, headed by Kibor’s daughter Loice Kibor, expressed confidence that they will agree on the distribution of their father’s estate through an out-of-court settlement.
“As a family, we are going to give mediation a chance. We are going to seek the court to allow us to solve the matter through mediation when we appear before the presiding Judge Emily Ominde next week,” stated Loice.
In embracing the mediation model, the family looks forward to restoring the family relationship.
Jackson Kibor’s Will Forgery
According to media reports, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) confirmed that the will of the late Jackson was forged.
The revelation came after orders were issued over the succession case NO. E049?2022 by the High Court in Eldoret. The order led to a forensic examination assessing the legitimacy of the will in question.

The submission by the DCI on the forensic report indicated that the forgery took place on February 27, 2021, outside the Environment and Lands Court Eldoret. The DCI highlighted that the will was drawn by Bundotich Korir and Company Advocates and was witnessed by two lawyers.
The key documents that were utilized in the investigation were several critical records. They included a lease agreement for Eldoret Municipality Block 14/380 and a transfer record for Block 14/379, among other sale agreements that dated back to 1994.
Furthermore, a thorough comparison was made with the verified document samples bearing Kibor’s handwriting and signature which revealed inconsistencies leading to the revelation.

The Succession Dispute
The succession dispute dates back to March 17, 2022, two years ago when Kibor passed away.
Since then, the family has faced battles over the estate that is reported to be worth Ksh16 billion.
The partitioning battle intensified the moment the fourth wife, Euniter Kibor, presented a will that claimed substantial portions of the estate.
The said will by the fourth wife has been proven fraudulent and was disowned by the rest of the family members thus leading to a formal petition that subjected the will to a forensic analysis.
With the family resolution and call to deal with the matter out of court grounding their decision on their father’s values of integrity and fairness, the family hopes to reach a quick end to the matter without sidelining any family member.
