A new campaign under the hashtag #RutoDelivers is gaining momentum on X, reversing the intent of a viral cartoon series originally meant to critique the government.
Created by user @Kibet_bull, the original black-and-white silhouette cartoons have in the past days become a tool used by Kenyans to highlight President William Ruto’s faults.
However, Kibet has indicated that government-aligned bloggers and supporters have launched the counter-campaign, using the same artistic style to praise the president’s achievements.

Kibet Bull on the Recent Campaigns
Kibet Bull, the cartoonist behind the original campaign, has indicated that the sudden wave of #RutoDelivers cartoons is not organic.
According to him, the government has deployed bloggers on a tight deadline to counter his work and suppress the voices of other Kenyans.
Additionally, he has stated that his employer was threatened over the cartoons, adding that the government was after him.
“A private number even called my employer to threaten them. They are doing this because they don’t know who I am. They think someone is financing me,” he said.
However, he has continued discrediting the campaign, insisting that Ruto’s administration has not delivered on its promises.
User @Young_Wise_Elder posted, “Government bloggers have been given two days to come up with their own cartoons like @Kibet_bull’s or explain why they should keep getting paid.”

The Campaign
The message being virtualised in the pro-Ruto campaign includes ensuring that KenGen makes profits.
“KenGen which was making losses in the last 8 years, recorded a 35% increase in profit after tax for the financial year ending 30th June 2024. This is after rising from Ksh 5 Billion to Ksh 6.8 Billion profit under Rais Mchapakazi William Samoei Ruto’s administration,” user Nicholas Gitobu Kiogora stated.
“President Ruto’s Policies maintaining shilling stability against the dollar contribute to lower costs on imported goods,” user Kerubo added.
“The government has implemented a new higher education funding model, prioritizing support for students from vulnerable backgrounds,” Maria Victoria noted.
As the digital battlefield heats up, many Kenyans are watching to see how the #RutoDelivers campaign will unfold.
