A church elder has been hacked to death while herding his cows in a village in Laikipia County.
In a video shared online, the victim’s is seen lying on the ground covered with a white sheet and some leaves in a thicket.
A resident who spoke to Citizen TV said the victim was killed by neighbor without mentioning the reason behind it.
“One of us by the name Mr. Ndiragu has been killed by his neighbor. He hacked him on the leg and the neck leading to his death,” she said.
The woman explained that the witnesses went to Matanya Police post to report the case, but they received no assistance.
“We have gone to the police station, asked thrice but there was nobody to listen to us,” said the woman.
She went ahead to ask the government to post more police officers to Matanya revealing that the officers at the station were overwhelmed by the vast areas.
“If the police workload is too much then we ask the government to bring more officers at Matanya police post. This police post has covered a wide area from Kihato to Milela Garigiru,” she said.
Insecurity Cases on the Rise
The witness further went ahead to mention that two other people have been killed in the region in the last two weeks.
“Many people have been killed here, there was a woman who was killed two weeks, and she has been buried,” she said.
“Two days ago, there is youth who was killed, he has not even been buried and we already have the third victim,” added the witness.
The residents demanded the government to prioritize their security since they couldn’t get help from the police.
“We are asking the government to look after our security because we always go to the police and we don’t get assistance,” she said.
