Residents of Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in Nakuru East woke up to a bizarre incident on Wednesday, March 6 after a decomposing body of a 60-year-old woman was found in her brother’s house.
According to family members, David Kinyajui, his wife, and a two-year-old daughter lived in the same house with the body of Rosemary Wahu who is believed to have died three weeks ago.
The family members told the police that Rosemary Wahu was last seen alive on January 29 before her phone went off.
They learnt about Rosemary’s death after they stormed Kinyajui’s home on Wednesday morning seeking answers about her whereabouts.
“We arrived at 6a.m called them and they opened the door, but they took forty minutes before opening. We got in, prayed and then they told us to go see our sister,” Gachoka Kanyone, a family member, said.
Kinyajui and his wife believed the body will resurrect
Rosemary’s son, Boniface Mwania wondered why Kinyajui and his wife decided to remain silent about her death and kept the decomposing body in their house.
According to Boniface, Kinyajui and his wife believed that her mother would resurrect.
“My aunt stood up and prayed, she said that there is a dead body here, but it will resurrect. We were shocked,” Boniface stated.
He stated that the decomposing body was placed in one of the bedrooms adding that her mother might have died around three weeks ago.

“It is like that body had stayed there for three weeks. It was already decomposed, and the head reduced to a skeleton. Someone took out the sheet and we saw my mother,” he added.
“I asked Kinyajui whether he killed my mother, but they told me that she will come back to life. I wondered why they allowed my mother to die here and manage to eat with the decomposing body inside the house.”
Angered with the incident, the locals bayed for the couple’s blood.

However, Kinyanjui and his wife were rescued from an irate mob by police officers who whisked them away.
The two are being interrogated by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nakuru East.
“We took them for interrogation, so we have two suspects, a man and a woman,” said Nakuru East Sub County Police Commander Mohammed Wako.
The family is seeking answers on why the couple lived with the decomposing body.
An autopsy is set to be conducted to ascertain the cause of Rosemary’s death.
