Controversial philanthropist Dan Wema has sparked debate online after claiming he earned more than Ksh155,000 on Facebook in just six days, sparking both admiration and skepticism among social media users.
In a series of posts shared on his Facebook page, Dan Wema said that as of June 7, 2026, his account balance was 1,200 US dollars.
He also shared a screenshot alongside the post, which showed a currency conversion placing the amount at approximately Ksh155,232.
Wema described the earnings as part of what he called a fast-growing income stream, saying the results had surprised even him.
He hinted that the amount could rise sharply, suggesting he could make up to 8,000 US dollars (Ksh1,034,000) if the trend continues.
“Whether you talk about me positively or negatively, you have done a really good job. Today, June 7, 2026, my Facebook dollar balance has reached 1,200 USD. Just the other day, you saw me post that it was about 800 USD. We haven’t even reached half the month. God is good,” Dan Wema stated.
Dan Wema’s verified Facebook page has about 2.1 million followers.

The posts quickly gained traction, drawing reactions from followers who were keen to understand how the money was made.
In a follow-up post, Wema attempted to explain how the income is generated, linking it to what he described as Facebook’s “bonus” program.
According to his explanation, earnings are tied to how well content performs, especially in terms of views.
He claimed that a post that garners around three million views can earn about 320 US dollars. He also noted that consistency plays a key role, saying creators are expected to publish at least two posts every week to maintain the flow of earnings.
Wema added that some individuals are already earning significantly higher amounts through the same system, with figures as high as 10,000 US dollars.
While some users praised the possibility of making money through content creation, others questioned whether such earnings are realistic or sustainable.

The study estimates that Kenyan influencers collectively earned about Ksh1.07 billion in 2025, with the top 10 creators alone taking home roughly Ksh296 million.
This means a handful of leading personalities control nearly a third of the sector’s income, highlighting a sharp imbalance in earnings.
The top earners include Eric Omondi, who leads with an estimated Ksh57 million, followed by Amber Ray at Ksh44 million and Dem Wa Facebook at Ksh35 million.
Other notable names in the top tier are Jaymo Decin and Tom Daktari, each earning about Ksh25 million, alongside Crazy Kennar, Awinja Nyamwalo, Bahati, Njugush and Pascal Tokodi, whose earnings range between Ksh16 million and Ksh23 million.
The report shows that these creators benefit from consistent brand partnerships and strong audience engagement, allowing them to secure repeated deals that drive income growth.
Across the broader landscape, small and medium-sized businesses account for about 80 percent of creator partnerships, while key sectors include beauty and personal care, food and beverage, and financial services.
Instagram emerges as the most lucrative platform, with top creators converting about 40.8 percent of their views into paid content, while Facebook delivers moderate returns at around 21.2 percent.
TikTok, despite commanding the largest share of audience attention, records the lowest monetisation rate at roughly 12.2 percent.
