Cabinet Secretary nominee for Environment Aden Duale was listed among the first batch of renominated CSs after President William Ruto dissolved his cabinet.
The head of state nominated Duale to his previous docket, fronting him as the Defence CS.
Shortly after the announcement, Duale took to X to express his gratitude to Ruto for having trust and confidence in him.
“This nomination reflects the President’s and the Kenyan people’s profound trust and confidence in my ability to advance our nation’s agenda and more particularly the national security of our nation hence contribute to its greatness.
“I am ready and willing to present myself to the National Assembly relevant committee for vetting and public scrutiny,” stated Duale.
A few days later, images of what looked like a lavish party circulated online, indicating that Duale was hosting a party to mark and celebrate his comeback to the Defence Ministry.

Truth Behind Hosting Party at DoD
The Kenya Times has since determined that indeed a party was held to celebrate the renomination of Duale to the Defence ministry.
Nicknamed ‘Simba’ for his fierceness, a huge banner was hung at the event with Duale’s photo and a welcome back message.
Additionally, several people, both men and women, were seen dancing on the huge marble floor at the venue, with music playing in the background.
Several people took up the front white VIP seats, although it is unclear whether Duale was among the attendees.
It is notable that the speakers at the event spoke in Arabic while the guests responded in the same language.

Duale Moved to Environment Ministry
Duale’s gratitude to Ruto after being nominated to the Defence ministry did not signal the subsequent reshuffle that came days later on Tuesday, July 23, when he was moved to the ministry of Environment.
Soipan Tuya, who previously led the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry was moved to Defence.
Duale confirmed the reassignment in a statement shortly after an announcement by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, expressing his gratitude once again to the head of state.
“Indeed, ‘And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know”
