Wajir County, located in northeastern Kenya, had 207,758 registered voters spread across its six constituencies as of 2022, according to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
These constituencies include Wajir North, Wajir East, Tarbaj, Wajir West, Eldas and Wajir South.
Of the six, Wajir South has the highest number of registered voters at 58,077, followed by Wajir East with 35,794.
Wajir North accounts for 33,927 voters, Wajir West has 31,334, Tarbaj records 25,267, while Eldas has the smallest voter population at 23,359.
Each of these constituencies is represented in Kenya’s National Assembly by a Member of Parliament.

As of 2024, the current MPs are Saney Ibrahim Adbi for Wajir North, Mohamed Aden Daudi for Wajir East.

Adow Aden Mohammed represents Wajir South, Farah Yussuf Mohamed Wajir West, Hussein Abdi Bare for Tarbaj, and Adan Keynan Wehliye for Eldas.
Representing women in the county at the national level is Woman Representative Fatuma Ibrahim Ali.
In the Senate, Wajir County is represented by Abdirahman Ali.
About Wajir County
Wajir County derives its name from the Somali word meaning “coming together,” a reference to the historical convergence of various clans and pastoral communities in the area.

These groups traditionally gathered around the town of Wajir to water their livestock at the many reliable shallow wells found across the region.
This central role in regional life led to the British colonial administration officially founding Wajir Town in 1912 as a local headquarters.
Wajir has since grown into one of Kenya’s oldest urban centers, behind only Malindi and Mji wa Kale in Mombasa.
