A human resource (HR) consultancy firm known as Amble Beginning Consult Limited has been put on the spot for allegedly scamming Kenyans millions of shillings, while promising them jobs abroad.
Speaking to the media, some of the victims revealed that the firm was taking advantage of Kenyans who were desperate to get jobs that were advertised by the government as President William Ruto continued to broker deals for exporting labor.
The firm of HR professionals asked the victims for money in exchange of Visas and job security in different countries overseas.
One of the victims narrated that she was asked to pay Ksh640,000 at the beginning of the process in 2022 but ended up losing close to one million to the firm.

How the first Victim Was Conned
The firm had promised to get her a job in Canada and help her process her Visa. However, she was soon asked to pay an additional Ksh200,000.
After waiting for a long time, in August 2022, she decided to go back to the offices to inquire about the progress but was told to wait for an additional 60 days.
“The main reason we want to leave this country is to look for employment. He told me that the total cost would be Ksh640,000
“We went for our biometrics, and we were told to wait. When I went back, I was told to wait for 40 to 60 days because they had not received word from Canadian officials. In September, we got news that our visa request had been denied,” she said.

The firm then promised to get her another opportunity in Germany. However, two weeks later, they learnt that Amble Beginning Consult Limited offices had been closed.
“About two weeks later, we were told that the offices had been raided and they had been closed. Their contacts and office numbers were not going through,” she said.
Another victim indicated that he had paid the firm over Ksh800,000 but was yet to receive any update on the security of his job abroad.
The HR Firm Response
On the other hand, the management of the firm said that they were targeted by some individuals insisting that they were a legitimate company.
However, the victims insisted that they wanted the company to refund their money.
Watchdogs caution that a frequently used tactic for job scams involves persuading job seekers to complete forms containing personal information, presenting a clear opportunity for potential blackmail or identity theft.
At the same time, job seekers are advised to take simple yet comprehensive precautions including verify the legitimacy of the job opening by checking the official organization or company website, reviewing their LinkedIn page, or reaching out to friends or acquaintances employed by the organization.
