Facebook users are experiencing global access issues, with some unable to load the platform or use its features.
“Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes,” the Facebook platform displays upon log-in attempt on July 19.
According to DownDetector data, reports of the outage began around 3:34 AM Eastern Time, with over 1,192 users reporting the issue in the last 24 hours.
However, the disruption is only affecting the desktop version of the Meta social media network, which appears to be unavailable, while the mobile applications remain active.
Some users have reported that they are experiencing access difficulties with Meta accounts, including for the Instagram platform.

How to Report a Facebook and Social Media Platform Outage
Users experiencing issues across Meta platforms can report the issue on DownDetector, a crowdsourced outage-monitoring platform.
The platform collects user reports and displays real-time service disruptions.
To report an issue, users should visit the Facebook page on DownDetector at https://downdetector.com/status/facebook/.
Select the reporting section and select the type of problem you are experiencing, such as login issues, app problems, website outages, or server connection errors.
Additionally, the user can provide details about the specific problem, including the start time and any error messages received.
After entering your information, complete the verification step to confirm that you are a real user and not an automated bot.
Once verified, select the “Send Report” option to submit the outage report.
According to DownDetector, the submission contributes to DownDetector’s live outage map and incident statistics, helping other users and service providers understand the extent of the disruption.

Kenyan X Account Suspensions
As Meta account users worldwide experience a global outage, several X accounts have been suspended, triggering widespread discussion across Kenyan online communities.
Some X users have linked the account suspensions to the platform’s intensified crackdown on engagement farming, spam, and inauthentic activity.
Among the accounts reportedly suspended were Dawood (@Entr_dawood), Mlachake (@mlachaks254), Skeka (@realskeka), Mwalimu Josh (@Josh001J), Bandit, Miss Lingard, Kenyan Fever, Niko Kadi, Richie, Osama Novara, Mkenya Daima, and Kate, also known as LadyKatin.
Other accounts mentioned by X users, including Vartico and Gidi, have been suspended.
According to discussions on Kenyan Twitter (KOT), several affected accounts were initially placed under temporary restrictions, or “paused,” before being fully suspended.
Users noted that the action appeared coordinated and widespread rather than isolated to individual accounts.
Many of the suspended accounts are commonly referred to within KOT circles as “farmers,” whose accounts focus on generating high levels of engagement through frequent posting, participation in trending topics, and calls for interaction such as likes, replies, and reposts.
While X has not issued an official statement regarding the suspensions, online speculation from users suggests that the suspension of the accounts is due to possible violations of the platform’s rules.
Apart from Kenyan accounts, reports shared by X users suggest that similar suspensions may have occurred in other African countries, including South Africa, Uganda, and Nigeria.
