The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) has announced scholarships for needy female students with a minimum grade of D+ for craft and C (plain) for diploma courses.
In a notice on Friday, September 29, the Authority declared the opportunities for female candidates from marginalized areas to join the 17- year-old program.
To reduce gender disparity in technical courses the body is therefore encouraging candidates to apply for the opportunities as part of its corporate social investment.
Notably the program has in recent years seen 350 youth benefit across the country since its inception in 2006.

“The Authority invites applications from form four leavers from Arid and Semi-Arid areas. The marginal areas include Mandera, West Pokot, Lamu, Turkana, Wajir, Kwale, Ijara, Tana River,”read part of the statement.
Other areas include Garissa, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Suba, Kajiado, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Teso, Mt.Elgon, Kitui, Mwingi, Tharaka, Mbere,Transmara, Makueni, Kuria and Baringo.
Subsequently the Authority has outlined six training courses it is seeking to sponsor. The disciplines are Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical and electronics, Automotive, Surveying, Building/Civil Engineering.
Scholarships Eligibility
Interested applicants for the scholarships must have a willing interest in learning and possess an aptitude towards a technical career in addition to the academic requirements.
For Diploma entries applicant must have attained a minimum mean Grade of C (plain), with at least C+(plus) in Mathematics (Plain) in Physics and English
Applicants applying for the Craft courses are required to have attained a Minimum Mean Grade of D+ (Plus), with at least C- (Minus) in Mathematics+ (Plus) in Physics and English.

How to Apply
Interested applicants are called to submit handwritten justifications of not more than three hundred words indicating reasons they deserve the training together with the sponsorship.
Applications should be attached with two copies of Certificates, Testimonials and National Identity Card.
Additionally, applicants for the scholarships are advised to select only two courses from the different clusters listed.
The Authority has moreover directed applicants to thereafter submit their applications to Director General, National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) or email communications department at NITA on or before October 31, 2023.
